Collaboration with:

Catharina Hospital Eindhoven (CZE) and Philips

Study Overview:

The SWITCH study (NCT05956210) is an observational, single-center clinical trial designed to evaluate the implementation of the Healthdot, a smart monitoring device, in a surgical ward at the CZE.

Key Participants:

500 Surgical Ward Patients

Primary Objective:

The study assesses the effectiveness of transitioning from manual spot-check monitoring to continuous monitoring with Healthdot, focusing on the system's adoption, feasibility, and impact on patient care over a 6-month period.

Key Results and Benefits:

  • A 40% reduction in manual spot checks, saving approximately 5.5 minutes per check.
  • After the initial 3-month trial, staff at the surgical ward opted to fully transition to Healthdot for patient monitoring.
  • The successful adoption has prompted the decision to extend the use of Healthdot for an additional year.
  • Publication of the study results is in progress, with positive early feedback on the system's impact on both workflow efficiency and patient outcomes.
